Interview With fursad.com

[Update : 08 Apr 2007]

DEEPESH SHRESTHA
Sydney
info@fursad.com

We are indeed very proud to let you know that we have got things started for fursad.com from Sydney as well. We are equally proud to state that an office of Green Productions Pvt. Ltd. has been set up for this purpose in Sydney by one of our directors, Mr. Deepesh Shrestha. Along with the various activities being carried out such as musical events and parties involving our very own Nepali artists, materials on fursad.com  shall also be uploaded on a regular basis from Down Under. Below is just one in the long series of interviews and other matters that concern Nepal and the Nepali Community living and working all over the world. Henceforth, we shall also be incorporating the profiles, interviews and other details of various prominent Nepali personalities that in general have made us Nepalis and Nepal proud.

Basically what is the objective of ‘Thapas Entertainment’? What is it doing these days?

We have a huge demand for quality parties and events here in Australia. So we registered ‘Thapas Entertainment’ as a company. It basically caters to the entertainment of Nepali people living here. We search for talents, be it in music, DJing and any other entertainment fields. We encourage and promote them. What we felt was that life was getting rather monotonous … go to work, come back home and follow the same routine day in day out. No matter which part of the world one comes from, one needs to socialize and have fun at the same time. The basic motive of our company is to unite our Nepali community and make the community strong and at the same time we can also promote our Nepali music. We first did a party in September 10, 2005 which was a huge success and the crowd was happy. They seemed to enjoy it a lot. Then we registered the company. Our musicians could now get good exposure here and as we also mixed up international DJs and musicians our musicians could learn something from them as well.

After 3 successful events ‘Thapas Entertainment’ is going to organize another party in coming 13th April. Since the parties were a huge success, were you guys financially successful as well?

We are doing well financially. At least we are not at a loss, that’s the most important thing for us. I think I shouldn’t be looking at the profit right away. First of all I should be able to entertain people and it should be a quality entertainment.

We Nepalese have habit of not encouraging when someone is doing something good. Did you experience something like that here?

No! I didn’t have to experience anything like that here. Everybody, my friends and all our communities have been helping me. My parties wouldn’t have been successful without them. I just want to make people feel that there are Nepalese people here and we too deserve to socialize.

I want to talk about the upcoming party. How many people are you expecting in this Nepali New Year party?

We always expect good turnover but we are conscious about not making the party over crowded where people can’t enjoy. People from other communities are more than welcome if they want to celebrate our New Year but we say no! no! to trouble makers. It does not matter if there are less people at the party, the only thing that matters is their entertainment. This time we are expecting 600 to 700 people. Because of the good ticket sales we have hired two halls for different crowds. There shall be a separate hall for Trance lovers and in the other hall we’ll be playing Nepali, Nepali Remix, R&B, Hindi etc.

According to a recent survey there are more than 20,000 Nepali students here in Sydney and there are a lot of Nepalis who’ve migrated here since the 1980’s. In spite of this huge community, expecting 1000 people for a party seems to be a huge target. Is it your weak marketing policy or the ticket prices are high, or are Nepalese no longer interested in keeping in touch with other Nepalis? What could be the reason?

We have a pretty good marketing strategy. But the students have their own problems like studies, work and other engagements. They might have their own obligations. And everyone can’t be free to entertain themselves at the same time. They have to work according to situation and circumstances. What I understand is for the students here, the basic priority is their studies and work. Entertainment is secondary for them, which is very obvious. We can’t force them. They come to the parties and socialize whenever they can manage their time. And the capacity of the venue is only 500 people, so we have taken two halls and we are expecting 600 to 700 people.

I’d like to cialis news ask you something here, the ticket of the party is priced at 25 Australian dollars which is almost equal to 1500 rupees. So what can a Nepali student expect for that much money at the party?

We have a complimentary drink, we have special dance performances by a popular dance troupe besides that we have dance competitions and cash prizes. Moreover, it’s an opportunity for them to socialize at the party. They can meet their old friends with whom they have lost contact because of their busy life and so on.

As you’ve been doing parties, are their any similar projects in the pipeline like concerts importing our Nepalese artists and DJs?

This is just a beginning. We are concentrating on parties right now but we are thinking of it and may be we’ll be doing concerts and musical shows with our Nepali artists soon.

What do you do during your ‘fursad’?

I go to clubs for socialize and meet my friends.

Do you have anything to say before we say our goodbyes?

It’s Nepali New Year. So it’s time for celebration, lets celebrate and have fun together and it’s going to be a big party. We look forward to your presence!
